The 17th of May is Norwegian Constitution Day — when Norwegians all over the world celebrate our constitution, grunnloven. Many people dress in traditional Norwegian clothes, bunader, and the kids eat hot dogs and ice cream (often far too much).
In the last few years we've been invited to celebrate at the Norwegian Ambassador's house in Bangkok. A garden party is held where many Norwegian ex-pats and their families as well as Norwegian tourists come. Many Thais who have connections with Norway (for example, if they've studied there) also come.
