Or at least I presume it's an armoured personnel carrier (it may be an M113). The gun on the top looks like it would do you some serious damage.
This is one of two we saw on Chaeng Wattana (แจ้งวัฒนะ). We also saw one with a Hummer guarding the entrance to one of the toll motorways in town.
