total_experience != max( personA.experience, personB.experience )

total_experience == personA.experience + personB.experience

But only if personA and personB listen to each other, which means they have to respect each other's views and experience. It means especially that the person with the most experience shouldn't automatically “win” every discussion — if you find that happens then you have this:

total_experience == max( personA.experience, personB.experience )

And that means losing out on a lot of valuable knowledge.

Don't do that!
